Last night in NoHo, the city’s top partiers descended on Jean’s Lafayette for a revelrous Pride celebration hosted alongside CULTURED by producer Chris Hessney, designer Colin King, chef Romilly Newman, and designer Raul Lopez, benefiting the nonprofit Housing Works. With the support of Mother Denim and Lalo Tequila, the evening paired the gleeful fête with a charitable bent, fusing downtown exuberance with a charitable mission.
The Scene: Guests arrived on the ground-floor dance floor with fries and cocktails in hand, before exploring the lower-level dance room and sumptuous banquettes. Beneath the glow of Jean’s signature pink-and-green clock, they lingered over the night’s festive breathlessness before giving themselves over to the thrum, in which style insiders, artists, and friends of the hosts packed their best looks (and moves) shoulder-to-shoulder.
The Locale: Jean’s Lafayette, the NoHo hotspot whose glowing red lighting, buzzy club nights, and famous restaurant-to-party nights out have made it one of downtown’s most desired after-hours destinations.
The Occasion: An exuberant Pride night that brought together the city’s creative community for a night of dancing and celebration. Beyond the festivities, however, was a shared commitment to giving back, with proceeds benefiting Housing Works and its ongoing work providing housing, healthcare, and advocacy services across New York.
The Crowd: With a BFA photographer donated to the cause, an eclectic mix of nightlife regulars and Pride revelers were captured in flash and disco lights. Among the dancers were designers LaQuan Smith and Bach Mai; nightlife impresarios CT Hedden and Markus Kelle; and of course, the all-star roster of hosts: Hessney, King, Newman, and Lopez, as well as DJs Tommy Hart, Stiletto, Mona Matsuoka, and Alexis De La Rosa.
The Entertainment: Behind the decks, each of the four DJs delivered a pulse-raising soundtrack that transformed the room into a sea of swaying bodies and glowing faces, while dancers encouraged guests to keep their energy going through the night’s last track.
