Printmaking
Albert Besnard was a French painter and printmaker active from the 1870s through the early twentieth century, known for large-scale murals and portraiture executed in a Symbolist idiom. His work ranged from academic figure painting to decorative schemes for public and private commissions across France and Europe. Besnard also produced significant bodies of etching and lithography, bringing a luminous, atmospheric quality to both printmaking and easel painting.
