Solomon D. Butcher was an American photographer known for his extensive documentation of pioneer settlement in Nebraska during the 1880s and 1890s. Working with large-format cameras, he created a visual archive of homesteaders, sod houses, and the gradual transformation of the Great Plains landscape. His photographs constitute one of the most comprehensive records of frontier domestic life and agricultural settlement in the American West during the period of rapid westward expansion.
