Albert Sterner was an American painter and printmaker working primarily in oils and etching. Active throughout the early twentieth century, he developed a refined technique in portraiture and figure studies rooted in academic tradition. Based in New York, he maintained a sustained practice across painting, printmaking, and illustration over a career spanning more than six decades.
