About

Why this artist matters now

Hans Scharoun was a German architect whose practice rejected rigid modernist geometry in favor of curved walls, asymmetrical layouts, and organic spatial relationships that responded to their contexts. Working from the 1920s onward, he developed an expressive architectural language based on flowing forms and sculptural building masses. His designs for cultural and residential projects established him as a defining figure in European modernism during the mid-twentieth century.
