Andrea Riccio was a Venetian sculptor and bronzeworker active in the Renaissance, known for small-scale cast bronzes that combined classical motifs with naturalistic observation of animals and plants. Working primarily in the early sixteenth century, he produced intricate inkwells, decorative vessels, and figural reliefs that demonstrated exceptional technical control of the bronze-casting process. His work bridged the humanist revival of antiquity with the detailed study of nature characteristic of northern Italian art.
