Zany, thoughtful, and imaginative, Brian Belott’s work spans performance, video, drawing, painting, and installation. Belott is a fixture in the downtown New York City art scene. He was featured in the 2019 Whitney Biennial and has work in the permanent collections of the Whitney Museum of American Art and the Museum of Modern Art. In 2017, he curated “Dr. Kid President Jr.,” an exhibition featuring artwork made by children, at the Harlem outpost of Gavin Brown’s Enterprise. The presentation underscored the youthful energy and earnestness Belott brings to his own work. For the 2017 edition of the Performa Biennial, Belott hosted a fundraiser for his work outside prominent New York museums with pieces priced as low as five cents.
