Lyle Ashton Harris is an American artist working across photography, video, and installation whose practice interrogates identity, desire, and representation through staged and documentary imagery. Born in 1964, Harris often positions himself within his own work, creating layered visual narratives that engage with queer theory, cultural history, and the politics of the body. His work has appeared in major institutional contexts including MoMA and the Whitney Museum of American Art. He frequently collaborates with his twin brother Thelma, extending his investigations into shared identity and artistic collaboration.
