Sheela Gowda is an Indian sculptor and installation artist working with discarded industrial materials, rope, and found objects to create large-scale interventions that address resource depletion and labor. Born in 1957, her practice engages with the material residue of postwar industrial expansion across South Asia, transforming waste into formal compositions that operate between abstraction and documentary. Her work has been exhibited internationally and addresses the relationship between making, material scarcity, and human labor.
