Hussein Chalayan is a Northern Cypriot fashion designer whose practice extends beyond garment construction into spatial and conceptual art. Since the 1990s, his collections have functioned as staged narratives, embedding architectural interventions, historical references, and material transformation into wearable form. He is known for embedding objects within garments, deconstructing traditional tailoring, and staging fashion presentations as performance art. His work interrogates the relationship between body, dress, and cultural memory, particularly concerning displacement and border politics.
