Toshio Iwai is a Japanese artist and inventor working across interactive installation, video, and sound. His practice integrates custom-built mechanical and electronic systems that respond to human movement and input, creating participatory environments that dissolve boundaries between art, play, and scientific experiment. Working since the 1980s, Iwai combines engineering, music, and visual design to generate works that are simultaneously sculpture, instrument, and interface. His installations invite spontaneous discovery and have been presented internationally at major museums and media arts festivals.
