Using sculpture, drawing, photographs, text, sound, video, and painting, Conceptual artist Trisha Donnelly poignantly explores the notion of time and how simple isolated gestures can evoke a moment, a place, or a feeling. For Donnelly, a drawing might require slowness, a sound piece might stretch a phrase interminably, or a video might present an action in slow motion, like a torso freezing mid-turn. In the video Night Is Coming (2002) the title words pulse in and out, mimicking the steady beating of a heart.
