Artist

Maya Ying Lin is an American architect and artist working across monumental sculpture, landscape design, and installation. Her practice engages memorial and commemorative forms, most prominently the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, DC, a black granite wall inscribed with names that fundamentally reshaped how contemporary culture approaches public mourning and collective memory. Lin's work combines minimalist formal vocabulary with conceptual rigor, treating landscape, material, and site specificity as integral to meaning. She has designed public spaces and monuments that operate at the intersection of architecture, art, and social history.
