1998·Acrylic on white wove paper·60.8 × 45.6 cm (23 15/16 × 18 in.)

Inspired by fashion and interior design, Arocha earned her BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 1991. This drawing presents the visual melding of two distinct patterns: leopard spots and blood cells. Rendered in a bright shade of aqua, the two converging patterns are reminiscent of the animal prints found on fabric. Aqua Trace relates to an installation by Arocha entitled Hide for the Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago, and which featured leopard-print patterns created with mirrored Plexiglas.
