Tony Bevan is a British painter and draughtsman working primarily in charcoal, pastel, and oil on paper and canvas. His practice centres on large-scale gestural abstraction and portraiture, often working from photographic source material to create works marked by heavy impasto and vigorous mark-making. Born in 1951, Bevan emerged within the context of postwar European painting revival.
