Jim Dow
Photography
Jim Dow is an American photographer known for large-format color documentation of American public and commercial interiors. Working primarily with 8x10 inch view cameras, he produces saturated, formally composed photographs of courthouses, diners, movie theaters, and other vernacular spaces, capturing their architectural detail and peculiar beauty with unflinching precision. His work was exhibited at MoMA in 1977. Dow's methodical approach to framing and color has established him as a significant figure in the documentary tradition of American architectural photography.
