Chester Higgins Jr. is an American photographer born in 1946 whose work documents Black life, cultural identity, and the African diaspora across five decades. Working primarily in black and white portraiture and documentary photography, his practice centers on dignity, resilience, and the specificity of individual and collective experience within communities often marginalized by mainstream media. His photographs have been widely exhibited and collected.
