Footbridges (Passarelas), from Blueprints (Heliografias)

<p>Ferrari created the series <em>Heliografias</em> while living in exile in Brazil. The <em>Heliografias</em>, which resembled blueprints, were copied, folded, and sent via mail to friends in Buenos Aires and the rest of the world. In <em>Footbridges</em>, tiny people fill crowded catwalks above streets filled with cars. The tension between order and disorder in the <em>Heliografias</em> mirrored the tension between Ferrari’s urban reality in São Paulo and the oppressive political situation in his homeland, Argentina.</p>
