Throughout his career, Tigerman has made direct references to classical architecture while developing his own interpretation of form, often using wit and humor, as seen in these two models. Fashioned after his client’s distinctive hairstyle, the rippling motif on the facade of the House with a Pompadour exemplifies the use of humor integrated by Tigerman into many of his designs. His design for the Marion house has a distinctly postmodern exterior design. Not visible in this model, however, is a staircase in the double-height entrance space patterned after Michelangelo’s Laurentian Library, designed in the 16th century.
