Tony Towle, from Face of the Poet

The career of Alex Katz has spanned more than sixty years and has included prints in nearly every media. His signature style—flattened, cropped portraits of his family and friends that explore scale, light, color, form, and composition—is clearly evident in Face of the Poet, a portfolio of fourteen color aquatints. Katz asked his poet friends to contribute their own work to the project and the result is a reflection of contemporary life in New York.
