Photography

Jimmy DeSana was an American photographer and performance artist active from the 1970s onward. Working primarily in color photography and staged tableaux, he created formally composed images that merged portraiture, still life, and theatrical mise-en-scène to explore questions of identity, desire, and representation. His practice engaged with the visibility and legibility of the body in photographic space, often employing bold color saturation and deliberate artificiality of setting.
