Ad Dekkers was a Dutch artist working primarily in geometric abstraction and kinetic sculpture during the 1960s and early 1970s. His practice centered on the mathematical relationships between form, movement, and perception, often employing aluminum, steel, and mechanical elements to create works that shifted and rotated in response to light or viewer position. Dekkers developed a rigorous conceptual approach that engaged with systems and seriality, positioning his work within the postwar European avant-garde's investigation of objecthood and optical phenomena. His early death in 1974 cut short a distinctive career that bridged constructivism and op art.
