Fernando Garcia Ponce
Printmaking
Fernando Garcia Ponce was a Mexican painter and printmaker whose abstract compositions emerged from the postwar artistic ferment of Mexico City. Working primarily in oil and lithography, his geometric and gestural abstraction reflected an engagement with both European modernism and Mexico's indigenous visual traditions. Garcia Ponce developed a distinctive vocabulary of interlocking forms and chromatic relationships that occupied the space between constructivism and expressionism.
