Onanism

Nalini Malani is an Indian artist working across video, installation, and drawing to address themes of communal violence, memory, and displacement. Since the 1980s, her practice has engaged with the aftermath of partition, religious conflict, and the politics of representation in postwar and contemporary South Asia. Her video installations, often incorporating architectural elements and layered projections, create immersive environments that demand sustained attention to historical trauma and its psychological residue. Malani's work resists didacticism, instead building meaning through formal complexity and temporal layering.
