Ian Burn
Mixed Media
Ian Burn was an Australian conceptual artist and theorist whose practice emerged from the dematerialization of art in the 1960s and 1970s. Working across drawing, text, installation, and photography, he interrogated the linguistic and institutional frameworks through which art gains meaning. Burn's investigations into how language, perception, and systems structure aesthetic experience placed him at the center of postwar conceptualism. His work challenged the commodity status of the art object itself.
