Swimming to the Window

Ikeda Masuo was a Japanese printmaker and sculptor whose practice spanned abstraction, figuration, and mixed media across multiple decades in the postwar period. Working primarily in etching, lithography, and three-dimensional form, he developed a gestural vocabulary that moved between geometric and organic motifs. Based in Japan, his work engaged with both Western modernism and traditional Japanese aesthetics.
