K.R.H. Sonderborg
K.R.H. Sonderborg was a Danish abstract artist working in gestural painting and drawing from the 1950s onward. His work emerged from Art Informel and tachisme, employing rapid, energetic mark-making and spontaneous application of paint and ink to explore the physical act of creation itself. Operating primarily in Copenhagen, Sonderborg developed a distinctive vocabulary of calligraphic strokes and rhythmic compositions that prioritized process over representation. His practice remained consistent across five decades, treating the canvas and paper as fields for immediate artistic gesture.
