King Solomon's Ring

Ahmed Yacoubi was a Moroccan painter and writer born in 1928. Working primarily in oil and watercolor, he developed a distinctive visual language that synthesized Moroccan Islamic ornamental traditions with modernist abstraction and figuration. Active during the postwar period, his work engaged with questions of cultural identity and artistic sovereignty in the context of decolonization.
