Larry Burrows was a British photojournalist whose color photography documented the Vietnam War with an unflinching humanitarian focus. Working primarily in Kodachrome, he captured the physical and psychological toll of combat on soldiers and civilians, creating images of rare formal beauty amid scenes of violence and suffering. His work appeared in major publications including LIFE magazine, where his sustained commitment to visual reportage set a standard for war photography in the postwar era. Burrows was killed in a helicopter crash in Cambodia in 1971 while on assignment.
