Green Animal

Minnie Evans was an American visionary artist who created intricate, densely patterned drawings and paintings populated by hybrid creatures, celestial motifs, and ornamental botanical forms. Working primarily in pen, ink, and watercolor from the 1940s until her death, she developed a distinctive visual language rooted in spiritual experience and dream imagery. Her work remained largely outside institutional art contexts during her lifetime, emerging as a significant discovery in late-twentieth-century American folk and outsider art discourse.
