Pink Blue (Rosa azzurro)

Carla Accardi was an Italian painter and pioneer of abstraction in postwar Italy. Working primarily in oil on canvas, she developed a distinctive approach to geometric abstraction that emphasized luminosity and chromatic relationships rather than rigid form. Active from the 1940s onward, she was instrumental in establishing abstract painting in Italy during a period when figurative work dominated the cultural landscape. Her work remains central to understanding the emergence of non-representational practice in European modernism.
