Augustin Càrdenas was a Cuban sculptor known for abstract biomorphic forms carved in stone and wood. Working from the 1950s onward, he developed a vocabulary of smooth, interlocking shapes that suggested both organic growth and human anatomy without explicit representation. His practice emerged from the postwar modernist expansion of abstract sculpture across the Caribbean and Latin America.
