The Pool of Tears

In the second and third states of The Pool of Tears, Vera Berdich added the head of a girl at the left center with mezzotint, scraping, and burnishing. The third state was printed in blue-black ink. Berdich was typically inconsistent in her inking choices, experimenting with many color possibilities and paper types to see how these conditions affected the image.
