Ruth Vollmer was an American sculptor who worked primarily in marble, plaster, and bronze to create abstract geometric forms inspired by mathematics and natural phenomena. Active from the 1950s onward, she developed a distinctive vocabulary of curved surfaces and nested volumes that explored the relationship between organic and geometric order. Her work bridges postwar constructivism and minimalism, translating mathematical concepts into tangible sculptural space.
