Waldemar Cordeiro
Waldemar Cordeiro was a Brazilian artist and pioneer of concrete abstraction in postwar Latin America. Working primarily in painting and sculpture, he developed a geometric visual language rooted in constructivist principles and mathematical order. Active from the late 1940s onward, Cordeiro helped establish abstraction as a major force in Brazilian modernism during a period when figuration remained dominant. His work bridged European geometric abstraction with a distinctly South American sensibility.
