Photography
Dora Maar was a French photographer, painter, and sculptor whose practice ranged across modernist abstraction, surrealism, and figurative work. She documented the Spanish Civil War and produced experimental photographs throughout the 1930s and 1940s, often incorporating collage and photomontage. Her postwar output shifted toward painting and sculpture, exploring religious and mythological subjects with a lyrical intensity. She maintained a studio in Paris until her death in 1997.
