Chim (David Seymour)

Chim (David Seymour) was an American photographer known for his humanistic documentation of displaced persons and children in post-war Europe. Working primarily in black-and-white, he captured intimate moments of vulnerability and resilience across Poland, Greece, and the Middle East between 1945 and the mid-1950s. His photographs, made often under difficult conditions in refugee camps and war-ravaged communities, prioritized the dignity of his subjects over spectacle. He was a founding member of Magnum Photos, the cooperative agency established to champion independent photojournalism.
