Double Chicken (Doppelhuhn)

Ewald Mataré was a German sculptor and printmaker working primarily in stone, bronze, and woodcut throughout the twentieth century. His formal language moved between expressionist intensity and abstracted figuration, with particular attention to animal subjects rendered with both monumentality and intimacy.
