Poéme No. 11: Spring
<p>In this print the artist juxtaposed floral lace with a mass of string and a woodblock image of a butterfly. The artist combined representational imagery (the butterfly) and forms made through gesture (the impression of the string) in order to capture both the sights and the energy of spring.</p>

Kōshirō Onchi , who is also known as Onchi Kōshirō was Tokyo-born Japanese artist who is best known for his prints. He was the father of the sōsaku-hanga movement in twentieth-century Japan, and a photographer. His work was part of the painting event in the art competition at the 1932 Summer Olympics.
