Horse of the Apocalypse

Roberto Montenegro was a Mexican painter, muralist, and designer who emerged as a major figure in early twentieth-century Mexican modernism. Active across painting, public mural work, and decorative arts, he developed a synthesis of indigenous Mexican forms with European modernist sensibility. His career spanned the revolutionary period and the subsequent consolidation of Mexican cultural identity through public art commissions.
