DIES IRAE

Peter Lipman-Wulf was an American sculptor working in stone, wood, and cast bronze from the 1930s through the 1990s. His postwar practice emphasized abstract geometric forms and organic volumetric shapes, often carved directly into material rather than modeled. He developed a distinctive approach to the relationship between positive and negative space, creating works that engaged with both modernist sculpture and the tactile traditions of direct carving.
