Luis Martínez Pedro was a Cuban painter and muralist whose geometric abstractions emerged from the postwar avant-garde in Havana. Working primarily in oil and acrylic, his compositions synthesized Constructivism and European modernism with a distinctly Caribbean sensibility, often layering bold primary colors and dynamic angular forms. Active from the 1940s onward, he contributed significantly to the development of abstract art in Cuba during a period when the island's artistic identity was rapidly evolving.
