Art abstrait (Abstract Art)

Marie Raymond was a French abstract painter who worked primarily in oil and gouache, developing a vocabulary of gestural marks and subtle color relationships during the postwar period. Active from the 1940s onward, her paintings employed a restrained palette and layered, contemplative approach to abstraction that distinguished her from the more exuberant gestural abstraction of her contemporaries. She maintained a studio practice in France throughout her career, contributing to the development of European abstract painting in the decades following World War II.
