Old John Brown of Kansas, 1800-1859

Reuben Kadish was an American painter and muralist whose work bridged social realism and abstraction in the postwar period. Active from the 1930s onward, he contributed to New Deal mural projects and later developed a practice centered on figural and landscape compositions that retained social and political content while incorporating modernist formal concerns.
