Painting
Carl Buchheister was a German abstract painter whose work emerged from Constructivism and geometric abstraction in the early twentieth century. Active primarily in Berlin and associated with the modernist avant-garde, he developed a rigorously composed formal language of color, line, and plane. His practice bridged European abstraction movements between the wars and the post-war period.
