Gispen's letterhead (Letter to Piet Zwart)

Willem Hendrik Gispen was a Dutch designer and metalworker active throughout the twentieth century. Working primarily in tubular steel and bent metal, he developed a modernist vocabulary of spare, geometric furniture and lighting that became foundational to Dutch industrial design. His career spanned from the interwar period through the post-war decades, establishing a distinctive approach to the marriage of material constraint and functional form.
