Moving to Paris in 1925, Kertész became a central figure in the avant-garde scene, influencing a generation with his candid, sometimes whimsical views of everyday life. His work is characterized by its infusion of Surrealism, innovative use of perspective, and profound sense of empathy. In 1936, Kertész moved to New York, where he continued to capture the city's dynamic rhythms.
