Sandows Chair

René Herbst was a French designer and furniture maker active from the 1920s through the 1970s, known for his pioneering tubular steel and tubular aluminum furniture. A founding member of the Union des Artistes Modernes, he developed a stripped-down modernist aesthetic emphasizing geometric form and industrial materials. His seating, tables, and architectural elements rejected ornament in favor of structural clarity and functional precision.
