Ferdinand Kriwet
Mixed Media
Ferdinand Kriwet was a German artist and poet who created immersive sound and text installations that synthesized spoken word, electronic media, and spatial design. Working from the 1960s onward, he developed a distinctive practice that treated language as material to be fragmented, layered, and spatially distributed throughout gallery and public environments. His installations often incorporated radio broadcasts, found text, and cacophonous audio elements to create densely coded sensory experiences. Kriwet's work bridged conceptual art, concrete poetry, and experimental music, positioning sound and language as sculptural media.
