Georg Schrimpf was a German painter and printmaker associated with the Neue Sachlichkeit (New Objectivity) movement of the 1920s and 1930s. His work combined sharp linear precision with a restrained, almost austere palette, depicting still lifes, landscapes, and occasional figures with an almost archaeological clarity. Schrimpf's formal discipline and cool emotional distance distinguished his approach from both Expressionism and traditional realism.
